do i need to have good credit score, to be able to open a margin account or a account to short stocks?

how can someone barrow me stocks, if i have bad credit?

i dont have a broker yet, i am looking for a broker, but in my country you need to have good credit score, i am from europe. I am looking for an american broker or an offshore broker
